Check out Our Feasibility Studies!
We received funding from the Portland Clean Energy Fund and were able to work on two community-led studies. Check them out below:
Transit-adjacent Surplus Property Feasibility Study
Explore the feasibility and possible structure of a different kind of model for community engagement with government agencies around transportation, that would center those historically left out of transportation decisions – women, people of color, people with disabilities, older adults, youth, and people with low income.
Explore the feasibility of purchasing and either building or retrofitting transit-adjacent surplus property to provide transit access, affordable housing, and a youth center or other community center with a focus on education around transportation justice. These neighborhood mobilities and transportation justice hubs would serve as transit-adjacent shared-use spaces for community engagement and education; a clearing house for transportation information, resources, and connectivity; and an affordable housing, clean energy building that would ultimately provide workforce opportunities.
The goal of this study is for GTT and respective organizations to feel prepared and equipped with the knowledge to bring to life transit-adjacent spaces that center the needs of communities most impacted by transportation inequities.
Transportation Justice Academy Feasibility Study
This document looks at different examples of training (both locally and nationally) to analyze various benefits of drawbacks of certain methodologies. This feasibility study aims to answer two primary questions: What could a GTT Transportation Justice Academy look like and what additional information would need to be taught to support more transportation justice advocates in the Portland Metropolitan region? There was also a surveying component that was discussed in conversations with GTT leadership, the goal was to help GTT generate a survey that could be distributed to potential participants to ensure that various elements of the academy properly served the needs of participants. Taking this into consideration this document also includes potential survey questions for each content area.
